At the present time, it is estimated that only about 10% of individuals diagnosed with autism has access to an educator with any related training or experience in the field of autism. There is a tremendous need for highly skilled and well-trained autism professionals in order to meet the complex needs of individuals with autism spectrum disorders.
In response to this critical need, CCCD has developed and implemented a unique graduate training program in conjunction with the University of North Texas (UNT), which provides opportunities for CCCD's staff to earn a Master of Science degree in behavior analysis while simultaneously obtaining experience working within the area of autism education and treatment.
This program was the first of its kind in the nation and has been used as a template by other organizations to develop similar programs at other sites.
CCCD's creation and support of the UNT program ensures on-going training and development of future autism professionals to help address the need for trained and certified professionals in this field.
The graduate training program is an integral component of CCCD's programs. Not only does it provide an opportunity for professional growth and development of our staff members; it is a concrete and practical solution to the critical shortage of skilled professionals able to provide effective education and training to individuals with autism and their families throughout the region.
This graduate program is offered only to employees of CCCD.
