The number of hours any child needs varies based on age, educational level, and current educational program. Research supports that students on the autism spectrum should receive between 20-40 hours per week of ABA services. CCCD conducts initial assessment and will make recommendations for a specified number of hours.
In general, CCCD recommends at least 2 hours of supervision per week provided by a qualified behavior analyst. Recommended hours vary depending on the child’s educational services.
CCCD provides training for parents, caretakers and other professionals as part of regular consultation. Parent involvement is individualized and priorities are set by parents, other service providers and CCCD staff.
CCCD outreach provides consultation within home, school and community settings.
CCCD staff can provide training to classroom staff as well as consult to individuals students’ programs.
CCCD works collaboratively with other service providers on any child’s team.
CCCD does not provide direct instructors, but may be able to refer families to other providers.
