Private School Program
Connecticut Center for Child Development
CCCD's private school program has two locations in Milford, CT. Both
of these facilities provide educational services to individuals with
Autism and related disorders across the spectrum including Autism,
PDD-NOS, Asperger's, Syndrome and high functioning Autism. Our
Bridgeport Avenue location provides services for children across the
spectrum. Our Naugatuck Avenue location is specific to HFA and
Asperger's syndrome. Both locations are state approved as special
education sites for individuals 3-21 years of age.
The staffing ratio for each student, classroom and program location is determined by individual needs. Program-wide, our staffing ratio is better than one instructor per child. This level of staffing enables programming to be tailored to the needs of each student.

All programming is individualized to build upon each student's
strengths and to work on skill in areas of need. The principles of
Applied Behavior Analysis are employed to help students acquire new
skills in the areas of communication, play and leisure, social
skills, pre-academic and academic skills, daily living skills,
safety skills, vocational skills and self help skills.
Individualized programs and systems of reinforcement are used to
reduce or eliminate inappropriate behaviors and to teach socially
appropriate replacement behaviors.
Programming occurs across many environments such as school, home, community and work to promote the generalization of skills across these environments. Parent training also play a key role promoting generalization of skills across these environments. Additionally, supported inclusion opportunities are provided on a case-by-case basis.
